My friend and I signed up to make a mystery quilt a couple weeks ago through our local quilt ship. This week we received our first clue.
This is my first time participating in a quilting project like this one and I have to say, it’s a challenge to pick out fabrics for it not knowing anything about the type of block or what the completed project will look like finished.
In order to keep this a mystery for the next person that may want to participate in a mystery quilt, I can’t give very much information about mine but I can share that it’s a Debbie Caffrey mystery quilt. If you go to her website, she has several different ones you can purchase and participate in www.quiltwoman.com.
I was given instruction to purchase a light fabric, a medium fabric and a dark fabric for making my blocks as well as how much yardage was needed for each.
As I said above, it was challenging to figure out a good contrast. Out of these three, the only one I kept was the flowered fabric.
These are the fabrics I chose and I made my first cuts from the instructions.
I am looking forward to the next clue and what I will be doing with the pieces I’ve sewn together so far. I really hope I like my quilt when all is said and done.
If any of my readers have participated in a mystery quilt, I would love to see pictures of your finish quilt. Was it hard for you to pick the fabrics and make the pieces without knowing what it would eventually look like? Please comment below.
Blessings,
