Welcome to The Sewing She-Shed a blog about my adventures in sewing . . . mostly . . . and other things of interest.
My sweet Grandma is responsible for my love of sewing. I can remember laying out patterns and cutting them on her kitchen table as a child. It was always fun going to the fabric store to pick out patterns and fabric for a project.
Fast forward to the late 80’s, early 90’s when I purchased a Simplicity sewing machine and started quilting. I purchased the book “The Weekend Quilt by Leslie Linsley” (see below) as I had limited time to work on projects. The writer used rotary cutters and mats along with strip piecing to quicken the process. Learning tips and tricks on how to do things more efficiently wasn’t as easy in those days. I didn’t have computers, internet, youtube or subscriptions to reference or learn from like I do today. I’m very thankful for these advances as well as the great selection of sewing machines and cutting dies that are available.
I hope you will join me as I share what Ive learned over the years. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
(This blog post came from my first blog “The Sloop-Scoop” which I no longer can access)
